The design for this particular bench evolved from a design that was requested for a bespoke bench, commissioned for the grounds of a Scottish castle.  When we saw the finished effect, we loved it so much that we added it to the range.

The beauty of the Andrew garden bench is its boldness in terms of design.  This is no shrinking violet in terms of how it appears, but the bold St Andrew’s Cross lifts this bench from the traditional into a class of its own.  The St Andrew’s Cross is also complemented by the flat arms and back of the bench, making this a very modern, individual garden bench that is just that little bit different from other benches.

The boldness of the design and the crisp, flat arms, combined with the inherent durability of the teak that we use for our garden benches, make the Andrew a really popular choice for any bench that is to be engraved.

Traditionally, many people associate engravings on benches with memorial benches, but this is not necessarily the case, (although the Andrew is a good choice for a memorial bench).  Sometimes engravings can reflect a donation, honour someone who is alive, or simply celebrate an achievement.  If you do require an engraving then this can take around 7-10 days.

The St Andrew’s Cross is the ‘Scottish Cross’ yet this design is popular throughout the United Kingdom as people fall in love with the simple design statement that this garden bench has and it can really transform any garden. It is sometimes used to create a stoutness and durability, to a specific area, which can often contrast with flowers/hedges and this contrast fuses together the boldness of garden bench design with the softness of flowers.
